I promise pictures tomorrow but want to do more before I show you all. But I have finished secret project number 8 (even blocking!), sent off my parcel for my Secret Summer Santa and finished knitting one Mason-Dixon square box for my One Skein Secret Pal. I totally neglected to take note of what yarn was used for that and it turned out to be completely different to what I got. Instead I ended up using a skein of some very bulky (2st/in) Cascade that I used to make Lucy a sweater a couple of years ago. It is a really lovely dark brown with hints of other colours in it. I am going to make a lid for it as it didn't take as much of the yarn as I thought it would. If I make the lid a couple stitches bigger in each direction it should work out. I think I will also make a much smaller box and lid using double Paint Box (my original choice) now I know how the pattern knits up. Then it will be time for the fun part - felting in a front loading washing machine, and also my first ever attempt at felting (on purpose anyway). When that is done I will have completed my responsibilities as a One Skein Secret Pal. It has been a good experience even though my downstream pal has not been very responsive. I have discovered she is not having a very good time at the moment and I should have guessed as she hasn't been updating her blog much lately either.
We have a new member of the family - Edward bought an as yet unnamed goldfish yesterday. We do not have much luck with goldfish so he or she (don't know how you tell with a comet) probably won't be named until we have had him for a week or so. He is making himself at home in his "Fairly Odd Parents fish bowl fitted with ornamental castle and filter.
An interesting bit of trivia - didja know that the models on Deal or No Deal are all different heights and sizes (US 2-6) but they make them all look the same height by making the hems of their dresses all the same height from the ground - fascinating eh?
Small but somewhat annoying piece of news - Starbucks have discontinued their Valencia syrup. No more Mocha Valencias for me then. Usually companies are much quicker at discontinuing things once they discover that I like them, but I have had 8 years of Mocha Valencias as you can tell from my extra poundage and it is about time I stopped. I had my last one when we were on vacation.
