This year we went to La Caille just as we did last year, *and the year before, repeat from * for as many years as the company has been in existence.
It is still fun, especially now that spouses are invited, but it has become a bit if a ritual and it is the same to the extent that it is difficult to remember one year from another. This year I even sat in the very same spot that I sat in last year.
I don't mean to sound like I am complaining. It just seems like it would be nice to do something different for a change.
We had excellent food and the White Elephant exchange was good. One small change has been that the gifts should be of higher quality so no 'Potty Putter' set this year. We won a Sudoku Calendar which was great - as you know I like Sudoku a lot - after having a Dremel set, a portable wine rack and tools, and U of U hoodie stolen from us. And best of all we won a $100 cash card for Costco in the draw - we'll be spending that today no doubt.
I have to do my big holiday food shop today - musn't forget the parsnips or the cranberries. There will be 7 of us for Christmas dinner as Lucy and Sean, and Sunnie will be joining us so we will need a nice big turkey and some ham. It will be fun. We will be eating in the evening as some have to work on Christmas day, but that is good because we can have the big breakfast that Gery's family traditionally has, but we haven't been fitting in lately. We seem to have cut down enormously on the amount of food we eat over the holidays - which is really a good thing, I don't know where we used to put it all.
Hope everyone elses holiday plans are going well. If you are travelling please go carefully, especially in parts that are foggy or snowy!
