We are back to normal thank goodness - how unpleasant that all was! Thank you for the well wishes, Carolinne!
I have these things to do today (I am hoping if I list them here I might actually do them):
- Clean Fish tank - did I mention we have fish? Done 12.30
- Buy food - can't do see below
- Finish secret project - it is so close! Done all but sew in ends 4.30
- UK taxes - why I can't get to grips with this I don't know
- Pay bills - done - it's so easy online
- Take before pictures of the "rockery" - we had the quote for that - a lot, but within what we had thought it would be, so not a huge shock. Done 1.10pm
- Take pictures of Cranberry Saucy yarn - I love this colour, hope it shows up well on the monitor. Done 1.10pm
- Laundry Done 4.30
I thought there were more - I'll add them in later if I think of them.
I will check these items off as I do them, and let's see how far I get.
I have a couple of new ideas going through my head that I also wish to keep secret (as well as my secret project) for the time being (one is my own design that I haven't thought through thoroughly, but isn't actually even gong to be knitting, and the other goes with the secret project), and my Vogue top is on the starting blocks, must add that to my works in progress list.
See you later!
12.30 update: Cleaning the fish tank is such fun! First you have to siphon out about half the water - it sucks! You don't actually have to suck the water through, but you do have to fill the tube completely with water which means holding it up in the air as the water trickles through and because your hands are wet you get water running down your arm - the very thing that put me off hanging out washing and insisting on having a tumble dryer at the earliest opportunity. The other trick is to not get so engrossed in (or grossed out by) the amount of icky-yuck (that is the technical term for it) that you suck out of the gravel that you forget to check the level in the bucket you are siphoning into.
Then you have to refill the tank with fresh water. I use two gallon water bottles, filling one while I empty the other. The Sorcerer's Apprentice has nothing on me in the water carrrying stakes. It is a fine art, or maybe it's actually physics, to get the flow right so it doesn't overflow the one bottle while the other is emptying - who knew it could be quicker to fill a bottle than to empty one?
1.10 update: Taking pictures is easy!
This is my saucy cranberry. The colour has turned out a little orangier than it is in real life. It is arranged around the pattern I am going to make - it's in this summer's Vogue International knitting magazine.
Here is the 'rockery', totally overgrown and desperately in need of a makeover. I have waited for years for the Ground Force team to come and surprise me, but nothing yet. It will be just my luck if they turn up the week after it's all done!
4.30 Update: Two more things done. The laundry is folded and put away. Why is it that duvet covers have this amoebic ability to engulf other items in the washing machine? And why is it that you fail to notice until after you take it out of the dryer and there is a sodden balled up pillowcase in one corner?
The fun part of the secret project is done and I just have to sew the ends in - I will do that during TV watching tonight - probably American Idol (who will go tonight? Won't say who I think because they don't get to see it until Friday night) or Unan1mous (reality TV like this must be the modern equivalent of gladiators or throwing people to the lions).
The secret project is done except for sewing in the ends. I think it's really cute - I just hope the recipient does too.
I cannot go food shopping becasue Gary has taken my car and the keys to his car - what a shame - he will have to pick up a pizza on his way home.
That just leaves one thing on my list - I would feel so much better if I just got on with it. I am going to go now and find all the stuff I need and then "Just Do It!" as I believe someone somewhere trying to sell me expensive sneakers/trainers may once have said.
